Introduction
F1 series PERFECTRON F1 series are rugged COTS computers based on a dual cores high
performance 3rd generation IvyBridge Intel Core-i7 processor.
Stackable PCIe/ 104 bus architecture supports add-on high speed I/O expansion.
F1 series solution provide for deployment in military applications, for Multiple PCI
express mini card I/O slots and stackable PCIe 104 bus architecture support add-on
high speed I/O expansion.
F1 series rugged COTS computers are designed to meet MIL-STD-810G,MIL-STD-461F,
MIL-STD-1275D, MIL-STD-704F and RTCA/DO-160G conditions for environmental,
power and EMI compliance (thermal, shock, vibration, dust, water and humidity).
F1 series rugged COTS computers are completely sealed (IP67) against dust and
water Ingress, requires no active cooling, and includes a military-grade power supply
supporting aircraft (MIL-STD-704F) and ground vehicle MIL-STD-1275D) voltages.
F1 unit provides a rugged, conduction-cooled extruded aluminum
chassis designed to fit ATR standard is fully configurable and can be
Defense customized according to the specific demands of your application.
PERFECTRON's F1 solution provides all the applications from

Applications
F1 series
Defense
F1 spending in Defense over the next 10 years and beyond will place heavy emphasis
on unmaned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and much of the supporting infrastructure like
metro and trams control rooms, trains control systems, stations control rooms,
shipboard controls, air and ground control systems, and the aerospace industry.
F1 functions beyond traditional intelleigence, surveillance and reconnaissance by
monitoring and recording the vedio and audio. Combined by optional I/O interface,
F1 provides the customized functions based on all the requirements from our clients.
UAV
PERFECTRON F1 takes advantages of the Gen 3rd IvyBridge Intel Core i7 , for
extended wide temperature. It helps reduce board count by PCI/104 structure to
decrease the usage of cables and increase the capability of thermal solutions.
Command and Control
The key for many Command and Control applications is flexible I/O features coupled
with sufficient processing power for computation and traffic management.

What is Rugged COTS?
F1 series Rugged COTS ATR platform provides an increasingly pivotal solution in the strategic
thinking of defense and military performance. It has been a de-facto standard form
factor for aircraft board electronic equipment since in World War II days of 1940.
And towards the form factors, the F1-10, F1-20 and F1-30 follow the ATR 3/4 short
Standard. They can be used interchangeably in equipment mountings and radio, also
known as ARINC and was designated as ARINC 404 standard.
Why is Rugged COTS?
Rugged COTS are increasingly being deployed in wheeled and tracked vehicles,
used in shipboard applications, military and aircraft applications. Each application
is subject to its own array of harsh environmental factors including shock, vibration,
temperature, which need to be taken into consideration. The ATR has been
introduced into applications including surveillance, data collection, and storage and
weapons control.

Designed to retain PCBs in rugged, heavy shock and high vibration environments
F1 series commonly found in Military and Defense and commerical aerospace systems. In
addition to PCB retention, Card and Wedge Lock also aid in thermal transfer from the
PCB to the cold walt via conduction, by improving the interface between the PCB
and the chassis rails.
From time to time, Card and Wedge Lock protection may modify its product
specifications to be in conformity with applicable industry, military or other relevant
standards. Wedge Lock provides the features of narrow design permits closer board
spacing, maximum uniform clamping force, increased thermal transfer, maintains
wedge and body alignment for easy insertion, captivated rear wedge, choice of
screw head style, lighter weight, special legnths, finishes, or other design options
available on request.

Stackable
F1 series PERFECTRON F1 series design and location of PC/104 connectors(PCI and PCIe) allow
PC/104 module to be stacked like building blocks, It include PC/104 Power module
/CPU module (3.5”SBC) / Datacom module / PC/104 I/O module. Modules within a
PC/104 stack are joined by stand-off. The heart of PC/104 architecture is stacked-
board technique . The expansion buses are implemented using stacking connectors
that enable board to plug directly on top of each other. This creates a rugged
method of building an emended system from board level components without need
for a backplane.
Rugged
PC/104 is inherently rugged, Boards are held together with a four-corner mounting
ensure they flex in high vibration and shock testing. All module board are
manufactured with extended temperature components, allow operation from -40°C
to +75°C
Compact
PC/104 modules occupy a small footprint, but offer highly powerful computer
processing and data-collection capabilities. Some applications might require one
PC/104 single board computer (SBC) and a power supply. Advanced applications
can employ an SBC and multiple special-purpose peripheral modules such as GPS
receivers, Ethernet switches, video controllers and data collection cards.
Cable-less design
All connectors in the top layer module, this combination allows to minimize the
number of wired connections inside the stack system enclosure and gives more
design and manufacturing flexibility.

PC/104 Example Stack
F1 series The side view diagram below shows the F1 series stack configuration, Stack-up
design flexibility and expandability can support full specification.
The bottom board must be a power module provides great heat transfer via heat
sink.
CPU module is above of power module can be 3 types as below,
1. Low Power to the plate in the top layer. In this case, the module may include
communicating connectors and be PC/104-plus or PCIe/104.
2. Low Power to the plate in a layer of BOT. Then the upper side of the module
components in PC/104. This is a one-way low profile module.
3. High Power to the plate in a layer of BOT. This is a one-sided unit with a
massive heatsink
The expansion module above the CPU module includes storage , LAN board and I/O
board must be on the top layer easy to connection all of the cables.
